Youngjae debuted as GOT7's main vocalist with the least training time among all members. He admitted that he had time catching up with the other members but because of his passion and perseverance, he was able to make it through the hardships. His powerful vocals earned him recognition as one of K-pop's great voices. Youngjae is known to have an aura like that of sunshine. Even though he can be sneaky sometimes (remember Hard Carry 2 and 2.5?), he is of pure heart and intentions. Through the years, Youngjae has been quietly involving himself in various awareness campaigns. Recently, as a campaign to encourage people to register for organ donation, he released "Everything For You," which he created with musicians that are organ recipients themselves. Prior to the release of the song, the fact that Youngjae has registered for organ donation was revealed through a show which encouraged fans around the world to do the same.

Ars is the name Youngjae uses whenever he writes songs. He began participating in producing songs with "Rewind" from Flight Log: Departure in 2016. His style varies in every song but one thing is for sure: everything is awesome! He had collaborated with western artists for "Victim of Love", sung for original soundtracks for Korean dramas, and partook in singing songs for awareness for a cause. In 2020, Youngjae's "Breath" was selected as one of the title tracks of GOT7's fourth studio album, Breath of Love: Last Piece. He continuously shares his tracks, guides, and covers on his SoundCloud since 2016.

In 2020, Youngjae released a limited clothing line and goods named after him and his dog, Coco. The collaboration is mainly focused on cool hues that showed Youngjae’s kind of aesthetic and its unique feature is that they include goods not only for people but also for pets. A portion of the proceeds of the collaboration was donated to selected animal shelters and other organizations. The items were only available starting May 25 until June 28.
